Stockholm, 21 August 2025 – As the world accelerates towards electrification and renewable energy, securing reliable and scalable energy storage has become the foundation for industrial competitiveness and societal growth. At Unleashed 2025, hosted by the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, Zero Terrain will showcase how its underground pumped hydro energy storage systems are redefining the future of global energy infrastructure.
Zero Terrain´s underground pumped hydro energy storage (UPHS) solution delivers up to 30 hours of long-duration energy storage, making it a cost-competitive and sustainable alternative to batteries or hydrogen. Unlike traditional PHS, Zero Terrain`s technology does not rely on mountainous terrain. It can be deployed on flat land worldwide – across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas – near industries, urban centres, or renewable parks. Zero Terrain delivers stable, cost-efficient, and clean power that empowers industries and communities by storing excess renewable energy and releasing it on demand.
“Energy security is no longer a luxury—it is the cornerstone of societal resilience and industrial growth,” said Peep Siitam, Co-Founder, CEO & Board Member of Zero Terrain. “Our systems unlock the potential of renewable energy by ensuring reliable supply where and when it is needed most.”
For industries, Zero Terrain’s solutions mean uninterrupted operations and predictable energy costs. For societies, it ensures stable grids, accelerated renewable adoption, and a resilient energy backbone that can power future growth.
The company’s Paldiski project in Estonia, designated an EU Project of Common Interest (PCI) and supported by the Connecting Europe Facility, is designed for 500 MW of capacity and 15 GWh of storage—enough to power over 500,000 homes for 30 hours. This model proves how Zero Terrain can deliver infrastructure-scale solutions that meet global energy security challenges.
At Unleashed, Zero Terrain will be represented by:
- Peep Siitam, Co-Founder, CEO & Board Member
- Hedwig Meidra, Chief Communications Officer
“We are not just building technology—we are building the energy infrastructure that future generations will rely on,” said Hedwig Meidra. “At Unleashed, we are excited to show how Zero Terrain transforms energy challenges into opportunities for growth, security, and sustainability.”
The presentation will highlight how Zero Terrain’s scalable solutions can accelerate Europe’s energy transition while strengthening industries and societies in a time of increasing global uncertainty.
